What is happening in my life?

Wow, it has been a while since I last updated this... I just can't seem to keep track of my life. Let's see in October I went to Ohio for a couple days for an auction we (the children's ministry) were putting on to raise money. Then about a day later I was with a team in Lancaster, PA. It was extremely fun! We were there to get people interested in missions and possibly coming to this YWAM Pittsburgh base for Joshua Generation (a program for teens to learn and go on a short outreach) or Decipleship Training School (a five month program for after you graduate high-school, consisting of training and outreach). We met a whole bunch of great people and our host families were wonderful and very hospitable. I've decided that I love to travel and would be very happy to go as much as possible. My sister, Deborah, just had a baby girl... Risanna Peper Lyn Kerr! You can see pictures on Andy Kerr's blog. I'll be going there for Thanksgiving, so I'll get to see my new niece and my other niece and nephew... along with Deborah, Andy, and of course Paul. I'm so excited to see them and I just can't wait. Oh, just recently... starting Nov. 1 I started writing a 50,000 word novel for a competition type thing... it's writing a novel in a month and ends Nov. 30. To tell the truth I haven't really gotten very far with it. I have the whole idea in my head but I found out that it takes time to write it all down or type it, as the case may be. But I'm going to try very hard to finish, it will be my first ever novel to have an ending and it's so exciting that I must finish and that's almost the only reason I'm doing it. Well, that's it for today... nothing much other than that is going on in my life... except for the cold weather coming in (it's starting to get so cold).

A little of my thoughts

God's Way. So complicated... or maybe it's actually simple and we, as humans, complicate it. Either way there is no one who can understand it. If we were able to understand it, life would be alot harder... us trying to make the plan work instead of living life and relying on God. Example: God's plan - May goes through a time of isolation to learn about My Way. Me - Knowing God's plan I will skip the isolation and learn about God's Way myself. Result - I think I learned about God's Way but it never got into my heart. Solution - If I don't know God's Way and why, I'll be in isolation and really learn; listening to God because He knows what He's doing. Of course life is alot more complicated and has more variables. So that I will probably learn more lessons or it might be the end of a lesson or the beginning of another, probably all of them. So, taking all that into account I probably would mess things up by getting confused and doing the opposite of what I need to do and what God wants me to do.

Time

Sometimes I come up with random ideas, right now it's time... enjoy my thoughts!

In time you see the flowers bloom and watch trees grow. If time were only to be in spurts it would be a lot more noticeable… you go through life bit by bit and can see time. You walk down the road and time is not… then suddenly you’re there at your destination. You sit in a park and watch life and suddenly the trees are bigger and the clouds have left. You walk down the street, a beautiful sunny day, and it starts to rain when time turns on. It would be like being in a dark room… walking in pitch black and then the light is turned on and you see that you’re half way there, the lights turn back off and on and now you’re at your destination… knowing that you walked that far but not seeing anything when the lights were off. If time jumped in a constant rhythm then it would be easy to have a schedule based on time. It would be known that time would jump from 8:00 to 10:00 and so people would know how to deal with time. But if time fluctuate abnormally, at random places and jumped randomly so that days might be jumped and minutes skipped… it would be impossible to tell time, to understand weather patterns, to know even what day it is and would be in the next jump. Everyone would be prepared for any weather and not be time oriented at all... living with no concept of a clock, for a clock would be a useless thing... you wouldn't be able to watch time go by on the face of the clock... looking minute by minute until your time arrived for time would jump, one minute you're waiting and the next your ready to leave.

End of June

So at the end of June I helped with a Joshua Generation. A Joshua Generation is 17 days for teens. The first 10 days they learn about how to share their faith, along with dances and drama. Then we take them to a city. This year we went to Baltimore and we saw God do amazing things there. So here are some pictures of that. (Witnessing to people on the street, we are red shirts) (all our water bottles, mine is the one with the decorated blue top)(Tory handing out cotton candy) and (the beautiful sky of Baltimore).

Wow... it's been almost three months since last I wrote here! So in July I went back to New Hampshire to visit with my family and also to raise more support. I had a great time and got to see my sister, Sara and her family back from South Korea... Yay! I helped alot with a VBS that we did in the beginning of August. I found out that I love working with kids. They are so fun and mostly listen to me... I was the craft teacher/person. I love crafts, so crafts and kids just are perfect! But at the moment I have no idea what I'll be doing. No one is going anywhere for a couple months and there aren't any outreaches so I'm just here working on helping keep this YWAM base kind of nice. I'll put pictures up later of VBS and my new hair cut and things like that... Oh yeah, I got a hair cut and now my hair is in layers and it looks really nice. If you want to be sure to see a picture you can look on my facebook page (sorry people if I don't know you). Well, it's almost 10:30 and I'm getting tired and have to wake up before 7:30 so for now... Bye (I'll try to update more often again).

Hecktick Life

I just can't update this blog every day... I thought I could but found out that I can't. Right now I'm pretty much broke, and my purse with all the information I need is off in a truck that's getting fixed and so I can't get to it right now. I really need a lot of prayer. I'm trusting God to provide. God is so amazing... with all the stuff that's going on in my life right now I can still see God standing right there next to me. On Tuesday my base decided to play softball and it was so fun. It started raining in the middle but we kept playing anyway (except for some people who sat in the cars while it rained). By the time we were done we were all wet and muddy. And the other day I saw a beautiful rainbow while dancing out in the rain. Spring is definitely my favorite season. My new computer is great... but I can't hook it up to the internet here... one of the guys here is going to look at it soon to see if he can fix it. I'm going to try to put some pictures up, but the pictures are on another web site so I don't know if it will work. But I'll try it. If it doesn't work and you don't see any pictures then maybe someone knows how to do something like that and could tell me.

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with my blog. Right now I'm kind of tired from working a lot. I've been planting grass seeds and doing yard work. My birthday on the 21st was really great and I loved it. Mommy and Daddy sent me a laptop and I absolutely love it and I use it all the time now. In a couple weeks starting on June 18th I'll be going to Baltimore and then to Singapore and the Philippines in July. The total cost of the trip will be about $2000 so it would be nice if you could support me... and I would also love your prayer support too. I'm sending out newsletters hopefully tomorrow. If you want one and don't get one you can e-mail me or write a message so that I can send you one. Well, that's it for today... I don't have my camera here with me and so maybe tomorrow I'll put up pictures...the ones I have don't have me in them because I was the one holding the camera. I'm going to go rest now, tomorrow I'll try to update again.

oops... the bottom pictures are weird... the one that says "(left)" should be "(up)" and the one that says "(right)" should be "(left)". They are pretty obvious though.

Pictures from Haiti

Today is the first day back in Pennsylvainia.... I slept really great last night (no mosquitos). And I got new batteries for my camera and I took some pictures. But you don't want to see those... you want to see ones from Haiti... We went to a city called Jacmel and there we met a YWAM team (DTS) from Panama. Victor was one of them, he's from Canada. Many people came to Christ and it was a great trip. I love Haiti and the people there. I'm praying for a passion for Jesus spread throughout Jacmel and that it will become a strong Christian city. Pray for the people in Haiti and for the churches there... that they will know what it means to be a Christian. The bus ride took 4 hours on bumpy roads.. and the scenery was beautiful.

Coming Back

Well, today was the last day of this trip in Haiti and it's already over. At 4:00 a.m. tomorrow we get in the bus and drive four hours and then get on a plane back to Pittsburgh. It's been an amazing trip. There was another YWAM team here from Panama (but none were really from Panama) There were two couples... one from London and the other from Alaska (the Alaskans brought their two children). There was a guy, Victor, from Canada and a girl, Natalie, from Oregon. Another guy from some random state and three guys from Haiti and the leader from Norway. We did a couple of outreaches with them, making a long show for people and then talking to them with the wordless book after. We had an amazing time and so many poeple got saved. Haiti is super beautiful an dthe people are very friendly. We stayed at the YWAM base here in Haiti and there are only five staff, but they are wonderful people and are definately a huge blessing. I miss the Panama team (we practicly lived together for a couple weeks). I'm amazed at how God works and the amazing things that He can do when you're in His will. I'll try to do some more updating on the trip in Haiti when we all get back to Pittsburgh, take showers, do laundry and sleep.

Haiti

I'm in Haiti!! Yesterday was our first day... because the other day was mostly traveling. We went to a small town out in the middle of nowhere and played soccer with the kids and invited people to see our drama "Doors" and our dances. Then in the night we went close by and we did our drama and dances there and then I shared the worldless book with alot of people and most of them came to Christ. We want to do follow up and talk to them some more soon. Today we went to the middle of a street and then we went to the same place we were last night, but the people were different so we did the wordless book again. It is really great being here and getting to know the people and talking to them and seeing God change their lives. I have to go but I'll try to update soon, don't know when I'll have the chance to get on the internet againthough.

Short

Wow, it's Monday... I'll be leaving for Haiti on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Wow... it's so close and I'm still not packed and so I'll probably be packing on Wednesday. Today we all had a great worship time at the base and God was present and it was great. And we practiced our dances... that's about it....I have to go now if I want a ride so this is really short.

Not Much

This morning I went to a church with Holly, Ashley, and Ruth. We did a children's church sort of thing about missions. It was really fun and we each shared a bit. We had them praying for other countries and we shared the wordless book with them. After that we went to the mall and I got some new black shoes (we need them for outreach). And then I worked on my paper for a long time and I only have like 6 more pages to write (I think... I'm not exactly sure what I have). And the rest of today is pretty boring and I haven't been doing much. You can keep praying for our trip to Haiti... alot of us have been experiencing spiritual attacks, mostly with sleep and nightmares (we've been praying over the houses). Other than that today has been pretty uneventful. We are leaving for Haiti on Wednesday... that's like three days from now.

Fun times

This morning I woke up at around 6:50 a.m. to go to a community yard sale about an hour away. Tara and I were looking for a couch for the new youth group room at the church. We actually didn't find any couch but we found some neat chairs and a trunk that could be turned into a seat and a really fun lamp. And then we found this house with shishkabobs and chicken and rice and stuff (Thai food) a Thai woman made all of it. We stayed at their house for a little bit, looking at the stuff and eating but mostly talking. It was really fun just talking to some random people who are doing a yard sale. The rest of today I haven't really done anything. We prayed for our trip to Haiti and got some verses to share. I believe that God is going to show His power when we are there and that many miracles will happen. I still need a little bit of money for the trip but God is really providing and people have been really good and helping me be able to do God's work. So you can all pray for me and for the trip.

Today... well, today I'm really exhausted. This morning I did some more weed wacking and then I shoveled rocks from the side of the base and put them into a driveway where they look better. So basically I've been out in the sun all day and my arms are tanned and I think I got a little sunburned on my face. Let's see, what else have I done today? Hmmm, Oh, I got some money in!!! I'm really excited, but I still need like $450 more. That's okay though because I know that God will provide, but I still have to talk to some people. And I still don't have a camera... I'll probably start with a picture a day after I get back from the trip to Haiti. Well, I guess that's it for now. I can't really think right now, I'll probably think of something really great I could write after I already post this. Oh well, I'll just write it tomorrow.

I'm getting some muscle working outside (and a tan)

Today I used a weed-wacker for the first time! It's actually really fun (until you have used it all day and it starts getting really heavy). That's basically all I did today... the Winter DTS left today at around 3:00pm and for lunch we ate outside on some blankets (the whole base). The last week or so has been so beautiful here in Belle Vernon, PA. It's amazing how the sun is so beautiful and the grass and general air smells so good. Officially, Spring is my favorite time of year (what's that word that has all the....Oh, seasons) Spring is my favorite season! I still need alot of money for my trip to Haiti... I'm leaving on the 30th which is like...less than a week away. Please pray that I get all the money in. If you see this and you can give something... you can send a check by mail or send money online. Just go to www.ywampittsburgh.org and click on give money (or whatever it says) and my name will be there. Other than that I'm doing great and I'm loving life...and I got to talk to alot of great friends who I haven't talked to in a long time!!!! Wooohooo! (I actually don't say that in real life).

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

So, I found my phone... it was in Lucinda's car. Actually, I wasn't the one who found it, Debbie did, she practicly sat on it. I'm leaving to Haiti on April 30th, which is excactly a week now. I still need to raise about $750 for the trip, if anyone wants to help you can go to www.ywampittsburgh.org. Yesterday was a great day! As I said we went on an outreach and did prayer stations. I talked with lots of people and I made a new friend. Her name is Kate and she works at a lemonade stand. I'm going to see if I can meet her again and get to know her better. I havn't been doing much today. I painted an abortion sign for the drama "Doors" (you could probably see the drama on youtube or if you look at my facebook, I think there's a movie of it there. Basically the sign says abortion and the main girl goes behind it, but it has to be in the right language so I made one in Creel for Haiti). Other than that nothing much happened. I have to finish a thesis paper that needs to be 16-18 pages long, it's about how to reach an unreached people group (mine's North Korea). Yea, well, you can pray for me...I need it. Oh, on a sunnier note... there are even more dandylions outside in almost every inch of grass, in all of Belle Vernon!!

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

I have never seen so many dandylions... they came on saturday and are still all over the place. All the little yellow dots are danylions.

Yesterday's interesting happenings

Yesterday I had to make chicken noises before I answerd any question to me. And then at lunch I had to do the chicken dance. We played the skittle game (each color means you have to answere a question, it's sort of like truth or dare) and I got purple twice, which is the dare. Other than that yesterday was pretty normal... except that it was a beautiful day and a beautiful night. The moon was amazing! The girls in my room (Ashley, Lucinda, and I) went to Wal-mart at like 10:00 at night. Then we had a sort of party/movie (basicaly we just watched a movie and ate cookie dough). And on top of everything I lost my cell phone... I called Wal-mart but they didn't have it and it's not anywhere in the house or at the base. You could pray that I find it because it has everyone's number on it and I really want to talk to some of the people, but now I don't have their numbers. Maybe I should write them all down as a backup next time. So that was yesterday because I didn't write it then, Today nothing has happend yet because it's only 9:27 a.m., but we are going on an outreach. We're doing prayer stations in Oakland. Well, that's it for now.

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Yesterday I walked with Ashley to Walmart. We don't have a car and we wanted to go for a walk somewhere. I'm not sure how many miles it was, but we figured about 10 there and 10 back. It took us an hour and a half to get there and then we bought some toilet paper and had to carry it back. I got a limp because my hip started hurting (I'm not sure why). Today I had the morning with God and I was reading the story of David starting when it first mentions him to the point where he had the chance to kill Saul and he didn't. It is amazing how great a friend Jonathan was and how much he helped David. God is an even greater friend. I'm really trusting God right now because I still need to raise support for my trip to Haiti. We leave on April 30th. I'm very excited to be going. In the past year in Haiti the price for rice rose 90% and lots of people are angry and starving because they don't even have enough money for rice (the cheapest food). I would like you to pray for this country and that when we go we will be able to make a difference.
My very first blog! I'm really excited and now everyone can see how I'm doing every day. I'll try to keep up with updates and when I get my camera I'll be adding lots of pictures, which should be fun. Right now I'm on staff with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). I just finished DTS (Decipleship Training School) and now I'm on "Phase Two" which is training to be staff. Oh, if you don't know me... I was born in Quito, Ecaudor because my parents were missionaries there. And I grew up as a MK (Missionary Kid) and I've only been in the US for two years now. I've been moving around alot, and now I'll be "in" Belle Vernon, PA for at least two years (probably more). My first misison trip is to Haiti for two weeks and then after that I will be going to Singapore. I think I covered most of the basics... if you really want to know what I'm doing you could probably visit the YWAM Pittsburgh site (www.ywampittsburgh.org) which tells about the trips and stuff.
